Find Your GPA


GPA can be defined as the average result of grades you have achieved during your degree. Usually, it is calculated on a 7 point scale where 7 is the highest achievement and 0 the lowest. It is very important to know grade point average (GPA), especially for high school students who intend on getting into a good college or for receiving the scholarship. You will need your transcripts before doing the calculation. This method can be used to determine your GPA for the semester or for the entire time you spent in high school.

Instruction

The first thing you need to do is to write the grades you got for each class, then place the number associated with the grade beside it.
Examine how the schools you attend assign points for plus and minus grades. This is the standard points system: A=4, A-=3.67, B+=3.33, B=3, B-=2.67, C+=2, C-=1.67, D+=1.33, D=1, D-=.67, F=0.

Now here’s the easy part, find the sum of all your grades (these are the numbers). Divide this total by the number of grades you have. The result will be the grade point average

Tips and Warnings

If you have any Advanced Placement (AP) classes or honors, they may carry additional weight. If your school allocates extra points for them, make the necessary adjustments and calculate accordingly.
Try to gain honors and AP as these can be used to enhance your chances of being matriculated in a good tertiary level institution. They can also be used as exemptions for a particular module or subject, this will allow you to complete your course of study faster and will guarantee moving above the ranks at a quicker pace.

  • Complete assignments on time, normally late submission of assignments will attract point deductions
