A. Tuition
Reimbursement.
The District
will make available to teachers covered under this Agreement, the
sum of $100,000.00 per year for a Tuition Reimbursement Program.
1.
Teachers Eligible. Tuition reimbursement is available
to any teacher who has either a regular part-time or full-time
contract with the District, or who is on an approved leave.
2. Covered
Expenses. Tuition reimbursement is available for
tuition or registration expenses in connection with programs that
qualify for knowledge level advancement under Article XIV of this
Agreement. Reimbursement will be limited to registration expenses
and will not cover books and supplies, travel, lodging or other
such expenses.
3. Dollar
Limit. Each individual teacher may be reimbursed for
actual expenses, but no teacher will receive more than $750.00 per
year in reimbursement, nor more than $2,000.00 in any five (5)
year period.

Procedure. Tuition reimbursement is available in
accordance with the procedures outlined by the Professional Growth
Committee. A copy of these procedures is available from the Douglas County Federation office. All requests will be considered and approved or denied
until the dollar limit stated above has been reached. Any decision
by the Professional Growth Committee concerning tuition
reimbursement is not subject to further appeal through the
grievance procedure. Teachers wishing to take a program of study
for which they seek reimbursement must file a Tuition
Reimbursement Request with the Douglas County Federation office prior to undertaking
the course of study. A form will be provided for such application.
The Professional Growth Committee may make rules and procedures
regarding the reallocation of funds set aside for tuition
reimbursement applications which are not successfully completed.
Payment of an approved tuition reimbursement request will be made
upon presentation to the Douglas County Federation office by the teacher of proof of
payment and successful program completion appropriate to the
activity. Specific documentation required will be determined by
the President of the Douglas County Federation. Applications
will be sent to school in the spring. Lottery will be used if number of
applicants exceeds dollar limit.
