Type D Guidelines
Outstanding
Teacher Type D - An Individual Incentive Program
A. Objective of
Type D
The Outstanding Teacher Type D
program will reward teachers for improved student performance on
District or school achievement goals which would exceed what is
normally expected for the target group.
B. Participation
in Type D
- All certified teachers who meet
the general eligibility requirements for the current Outstanding
Teacher program are able to participate in Type D. This includes
teachers working in special areas.
- Part-time teachers will be
compensated on a prorated basis as determined by their FTE
percentage of their teaching contract.
- Participation is voluntary and no
part of the type D process will be reflected in the teacher's
evaluation.
- Teachers will declare their
intention to participate in the Type D program by submitting an
application to the Outstanding Teacher Committee according to
the attached timeline.
C. Type D Goals
- Goals are developed by the teacher
and linked to school and/or District objectives and should
reflect the District's core values.
- Goals must be academic in nature
and valuable to the school and community and will ultimately
benefit students.
- Goals must be stated in specific
terms and have clearly stated responsibilities and timelines
- Goals assessment is measurable and
without bias.
- Goals will be designed to improve
student performance above the local standard of the target
group.
- Goals should be chosen so the
amount of student growth can be clearly demonstrated and
documented. The improved student performance should be a direct
result of teacher's activities.
D. Assessment and
Measurement of Type D
- Assessments and measurements must
comply with all District guidelines.
- All assessments need to be
submitted with the proposal and should clearly determine the
growth achieved by the students.
E. Type D
Compensation
- Teachers who successfully complete
Type D and who meet the requirements of the pilot year will be
compensated in a lump-sum payment at the end of the school year.
- The amount awarded for
successfully completing Type D will be determine prior to the
request for proposals.
F. Type D
Proposals
Type D Proposals must include the
following items:

proposals.)
- A Cover Page Form [see appendix]
with all appropriate information.
- A letter from your administrator
showing support for your proposal.
- The following six sections.

- State the GOAL(S) of your Type D
proposal.
- Describe the TARGET GROUP(S) of
the proposal.
- State your proposal OBJECTIVES
concisely.
- List ACTIVITIES that will
support your proposal.
- List the ASSESSMENTS that you
will use to measure student progress. Copies of these
assessments must be included with your proposal. The
assessments must be quantifiable and measurable.
- Include a TIMELINE in your
proposal. This timeline must include target dates and
deadlines.
All Type D proposals are required
to have the approval of the Outstanding Teacher Committee prior to
implementation.
G. Type D
Portfolio
- All of the general guidelines and
timelines for the Outstanding Teacher program will apply to the
Type D program.
- Upon completion of your proposal,
the following will be required:
- The Data showing student growth
as measured by the predetermined assessments. Data should be
presented in an abridged form accompanied by an analysis
indicating what results were achieved.
- A brief written Reflection
describing how the Type D program has worked. The reflection
should include what was learned and what changes would be made
in the future if the goals and assessments were to be used
again.
- The Type D program participates
will be able to appeal the committee's decision. All of the
general guidelines for appeals will apply to the Type D program.
H. The Outstanding
Teacher Committee and Type D
- During the pilot year, the
Outstanding Teacher Committee will oversee the entire Type D
program to ensure all proposals meet the designated criteria.
- The Outstanding Teacher Committee
will help facilitate communication between the teachers,
principals, Office of Assessment, and the committee.
- The Outstanding Teacher Committee
will be responsible for developing, evaluating, and adjusting
the Type D policies, practices, and timeliness
- The Outstanding Teacher Committee
will make recommendations to the DCFT and School Board after the
pilot program year.
- The Outstanding Teacher Committee
is responsible for the entire appeals process. The committee
will handle all Type D appeals.
