Type C Portfolio
To:
Applicants for National Board Certification

Re: Type C Portfolio
Date: July 22, 1996
The Outstanding Teacher Committee has
agreed that any teacher who was building a portfolio as part of the
Outstanding Teacher process for National Board Certification could
use that same portfolio, with the following modifications, to apply
for the Douglas County School District Outstanding Teacher program.
To apply for the outstanding teacher
designation all normal timetables and requirements must be met.
The following additions should be
made to the National Standards portfolio:
- Resume with background information
and the professional context in which you work.
- An index or explanation telling
the administrator where to look for the 6 artifacts which you
wish to use to demonstrate the 3 criteria for the outstanding
teacher designation. At least one artifact is required for each
criterion. The other artifacts can relate to any of the 3
criteria.
- A summary and reflection on the
client survey.
- A summary and reflection on the
peer survey.
- A copy and brief reflection on
your teacher evaluation or professional growth.
We applaud the work of teachers
applying for the National Board Certification and in light of the
extensive documentation required for that process wanted to combine,
as much as possible, those efforts with the goals of the Douglas
County Outstanding Teacher Program.
If you have any further questions,
please contact Nancy Shawkowski at Cherokee Trail Elementary or any
member of the Outstanding Teacher Committee. |
