Tuition Reimbursement

Tuition Reimbursement Guidelines

  1. The District will make available to classified employees covered under the DCFCE contract for the 2010-2011 school year, the sum of $50,000 for the Tuition Reimbursement Program.

  2. No employee may receive more than $750.00 per year in reimbursement, or more than $2000 in any 5-year period.

  3. Tuition reimbursement is available for tuition or registration expenses and shall be approved semester hours from a college or university holding regional accreditation; a nationally recognized and/or accredited trade/vocational organization; and shall be obtained in the area of work directed toward a degree, license or advanced certification, or in an area which will result in increased competence in the area in which the employee is assigned. Reimbursement will be limited to registration expenses and will not cover books, on-line software, software, supplies, travel, lodging or other expenses.

  4. Employees wishing to take a program of study for which they seek reimbursement must file a Tuition Reimbursement Request with the Douglas County Federation of Classified Employees prior to undertaking the course of study. When the request of eligible applicants for tuition reimbursement funds exceeds the amount of funds available, a drawing will be held.

  5. After an application has been approved, reimbursement will occur upon presentation of an official receipt from the university or organization showing payment and an official transcript showing successful completion of the course work. Reimbursement will follow the regular accounts payable check-writing schedule.

Applications for the new school year are available in the Spring, and are submitted through the DCF Office. For questions, please contact Andy Pippin at the DCF Office; or by email to andy.pippin@dcsdk12.org.

Please Note: When application requests exceed the amount of funds available, a drawing (lottery) will be held.
